Since 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already put together 14 box office hits in total. But let’s face it, out of all these films, the Thor standalone films still remain as the least favorite films in the studio’s ever-expanding franchise. Both the first film and its sequel, Thor: The Dark World, are seen by many as unimpressive chapters that are sometimes regarded to as the weakest links in the chain. But with Thor: Ragnarok just lurking around the corner, everyone’s banking on director Taika Waititi to finally turn the tide for the threequel.
After a slew of first-look photos and BTS shots surfaced the web a few weeks ago, things are looking quite good for Thor’s next chapter . Nevertheless, given that the release of the film is just a couple of months away, one would think that the time is ripe for an official trailer. Not this time, though. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting the theaters on May 5th, which is less than 2 months away, it’s totally understandable why the studio is putting all their efforts first on that other Marvel film.
But just when you think there’ll be no more Thor-related news, director James Gunn went to Twitter to drop some major announcement.
Last week, one Twitter user randomly asked the Guardians of the Galaxy director if he has seen the recently released trailer of DC’s Justice League, to which he replied that he did and that he liked it. Then, another user innocently asked him if he’s seen the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. This is what he replied:

Now, there are two key points to take note from this tweet. First off, director Waititi must’ve done a bang-up job with Ragnarok to merit such a high praise for a preview from a high-caliber director such as Gunn, who has come up with some of the most interesting movie trailers in the superhero genre.
The other takeaway from his comment is that the Ragnarok trailer must’ve been completed already. Why else would he make such a remark if it’s not yet polished off, right? What this means for us though is that it won’t be long now until we see the footage in all its glory. Whether this will be played in front of the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel or not, it should be with us soon.
Are you excited to see the trailer after Gunn’s comment? What do you expect to see from it? Sound off your thoughts and comments below.
Thor: Ragnarok will hit theaters on November 2.
