First Full Trailer of ‘Annabelle: Creation’ is Here to Give You Nightmares

When news broke that the creepy, possessed doll from James Wan’s The Conjuring is getting another shot at scaring audiences, we had our reservations at first. Unlike Wan’s more terrifying flick, the first Annabelle film just didn’t strike enough terror to us for it stand out from the rest.

But after we learned that Lights Out director David F. Sandberg is taking the reins of the sequel, a short glimmer of hope sparked to life. Despite having relatively little promotion, Lights Out became one of the biggest surprise hits of 2016 not just in the box office, but also with the critics. So if we are to base his next project (now officially titled Annabelle: Creation) solely on his previous feature, it looks like he’s the right man for the job who could turn things around for Annabelle’s next outing.

While the first set of promotional photos and teasers look hauntingly scary, it’s the full-length trailer that will scare the living daylights out of you. Released just over the weekend, the preview goes back in time to recount how the infamous doll became the conduit of a notorious spirit intent on bringing extreme terror to whoever it comes across.

Here’s the full-length trailer.

Creation goes all the way back to the origin of the doll, and tells the story of a doll-maker and his wife who welcome a nun and a group of children into their home after their orphanage got shut down. Things start to take a turn for the worse when they soon become target of the doll-maker’s possessed creation.

Sandberg helms the sequel from a script written by Gary Dauberman, the same guy who wrote the first Annabelle movie as well as the upcoming It remake. Peter Safran and master of modern horror James Wan are set to produce the pic.

Stephanie Sigman (Spectre) plays the character of the nun, with Miranda Otto, Anthony LaPaglia, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Anne Coulthard, Lou Lou Safran, Samara Lee, and Tayler Buck filling the rest of the casting folder.

Annabelle: Creation will scare its way to theaters starting August 11.
