After releasing a second movie poster, which you can also check out below, 20th Century Fox has also dropped a brand new trailer for Alien: Covenant, and boy will it give you the heebie-jeebies.
The story follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant on a mission to a remote planet situated on the far side of the galaxy. What seems like an unexplored paradise at first turns out to be a dark and dangerous environment dwelled not only by Michael Fassbender’s android character David, the sole survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition, but also a threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered before.
Ridley Scott, the visionary director who started the Alien franchise back in 1979, returns to helm the second chapter of the prequel trilogy that started with 2012’s Prometheus. If that doesn’t get you thrilled, then maybe the fact that Scott is aiming for a pretty hard R’ rating will. Or the fact that this will serve as a bridge between Prometheus and the very first Alien film.
Check out the terrifying new trailer below.
Without hesitation, this trailer has definitely exceeded my expectations. It zeroes in on the horror element of the movie, which is something that I found lacking in Prometheus – although that’s a given since the 2012 pic focused more on the franchise’s origin and carefully set the stage for the epic follow-up. And of course, we get to witness the iconic Xenomorphs and the newly introduced Neomorphs terrorizing the crew in this trailer! I cant wait to see more of that alien action as well as how Scott will piece everything together in this sequel.
Alien: Covenant opens May 19 in US theaters. Aside from Fassbender, the film also stars Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, and James Franco.
