After directing 2015’s critically acclaimed drug war drama Sicario, Denis Villeneuve makes a surprising turn to sci-fi for his next feature film titled Arrival.
The movie stars Amy Adams as Dr. Louise Banks, an expert linguist and translator hired by the government to communicate with the aliens who have already landed on Earth.
Dr. Banks teams with mathematician Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner) and U.S. Army Colonel Weber (Forest Whitaker) in establishing a friendly connection with the space invaders. However, widespread panic on some parts of the world has already put major governments in disorder, resulting in international chaos.
Arrival also stars Michael Stuhlbarg and Tzi Ma, and will debut at the Venice International Film Festival later this month before showing at the Toronto Film Festival in September. It will then land in US theaters on November 11.
