No, it’s not a Home Alone remake. But the first trailer for Better Watch Out certainly feels like it. Well, except for all the adult language and the blood. Lots of blood.
Dubbed as a cross between the classic 1990 Christmas movie Home Alone and 2008 home invasion horror The Strangers, this upcoming holiday horror pic follows the story of Ashley (Olivia DeJonge) as she babysits two innocent kids (Levi Miller, Ed Oxenbould) in a suburban home. However, things take a turn for the worse when dangerous intruders start breaking into the house. She joins forces with her young charges to take them down…until it becomes obvious that things are not what they seem.

Based from all the praises plastered in this footage, it’s clear that this isn’t going to be a typical home invasion thriller. There are certainly going to be some twists and turns along the way or unexpected character developments that’ll make this film a welcome addition to unconventional Christmas tales.
Better Watch Out, which is directed by Chris Peckover from a script he co-wrote with Zach Kahn, also stars Dacre Montgomery, Virginia Madsen, and Patrick Warburton. It is set to be released both in limited US theaters and on VOD format on October 6.
