Disney has finally revealed that Captain America: Civil War will clock in at 2 hours and 27 minutes, making it the longest Marvel Studios movie to date. At 147 minutes, it has passed the previous title holder, 2012’s The Avengers, by a mere 4 minutes.
The expanded length of Civil War certainly comes as no suprise. Aside from having two teams of superheroes going against each other and tying up some loose Winter Soldier plot left hanging in the previous Cap movie, the sequel will also launch two new players in the MCU – Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).
While Civil War may be the longest Marvel movie yet, it’s run time is a far cry from the other superhero movies released. Warner Bros’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice runs at 151 minutes, while 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises ran an astounding 165 minutes.
Captain America: Civil War opens May 5.
