Universal Pictures and DreamWorks have unveiled the first full trailer of its much-awaited thriller The Girl on the Train.
Adapted from Paula Hawkins’ best-selling 2015 novel of the same name, the film features The Huntsman star Emily Blunt in the lead role.
Blunt plays a lonely, alcoholic Rachel Watson, who is still reeling from her recent divorce. Even without work, she continues to take the train from her daily commute and obsesses over a seemingly perfect couple (played by Luke Evans and Haley Bennett) that she sees everyday whenever the train stops at the signal. The girl happens to be the nanny of Watson’s ex-husband (Justin Theroux) and his wife (Rebecca Ferguson). Things take a turn for the worse when she becomes involved in an ongoing investigation surrounding the death of the nanny.
The film is directed by The Help‘s Tate Taylor and also stars Edgar Ramirez, Allison Janey, and Lisa Kudrow.
The Girl on the Train opens October 7th.
