Get ready to be amused as Gru and his adorable and loyal Minions are back to save the world from an all-new, retro-looking villain in the first official trailer of Despicable Me 3, the fourth entry in Illumination Entertainment’s multi-billion-dollar franchise and sequel to 2013’s Despicable Me 2.
The film sees Steve Carrell back for his role not only as the bad-guy-turned-good-guy Dr. Gru, but also as his character’s long-lost twin brother Dru, who, according to Collider, is “exactly like Gru except with hair, and also different in every way.”
This time, Gru, together with his wife Lucy (Krister Wiig), face an enemy unlike anything they’ve ever met before in the form of Balthazar Bratt.
Voiced by South Park creator Trey Park, Bratt is a moonwalking ’80s child star rocking a vintage purple jumpsuit and a kick-ass mullet who’s hell-bent on world domination after his TV series was suddenly canceled the moment he hit puberty.
Despicable Me 3 is helmed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin and is slated for release on June 30, 2017.
