The 2014 John Wick surprised audiences with its stylish and thrilling execution. Now, it looks like its continuing that trend with the promise of more badassery for its much-awaited sequel John Wick: Chapter 2.
Chad Stahelski, one of the two filmmakers behind John Wick, now takes the reins as the sole director of the follow-up, which sees Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the well-known assassin.
This time, Reeves is forced out of retirement once again when one of his former associates plans to take control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Things take a turn for the worse when a new contract to have Wick eliminated was put out to a new batch of ruthless hitmans. But as Wick unforgivingly promises in the trailer, “I’ll kill them all.”
Take a look at the intense new trailer.
I have been a huge fan of John Wick since I first saw it in the theater. It was one of those films where you mindlessly watch without any definite or serious expectations at first, but when it ends, you feel thrilled and triumphantly happy to have witnessed such a brilliant film. I may no longer get to experience that sentiment again for the sequel, as I am already expecting great things from it, but as long as it can deliver all the goods, then that’s all that matters to me.
Aside from Reeves, the sequel also packs a star-studded supporting cast that includes John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Common, Peter Stormare, and Riccardo Scamarcio.
John Wick 2 opens February 10, 2017.
