Magical Creatures are Taking Over Old New York in New ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Trailer

Warner Bros. has debuted a brand new trailer for the Harry Potter-spinoff/prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at San Diego Comic-Con last Saturday.

Set in 1926, 70 years before Harry Potter‘s story, the movie explores a new corner of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world by introducing the magical side of New York City. Eddie Redmayne stars as the distinguished magizoologist Newt Scamander, who arrives in New York City with a briefcase full of magical creatures. Things take a turn for the worse when some of these creatures escape, threatening both the magical and non-magical communities.

Rowling makes her screenwriting debut for Fantastic Beasts, with Harry Potter filmmaker David Yates returning as the director. The film also stars Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Ezra Miller, Ron Perlman, and Colin Farrell.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens on November 18.
