New ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Trailer Brings You Back to J.K. Rowling’s Magical World

Accio, November 18!

Eddie Redmayne, star of Warner Bros’ upcoming Harry Potter prequel, debuted a brand new trailer at the MTV Movie Awards.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them features the Oscar-winning actor as Newt Scamander, famed author of one of Harry Potter‘s schoolbooks, as he arrives in New York City in the 1920s. During this time, the American wizarding world is completely different from the present-day, British world that we’ve come to know.

In this trailer, we see Scamander arriving in Ellis Island, New York and being inspected for any livestock present in his magical case. Before the inspector could examine its contents, he quickly switches the case to “Muggle-worthy” mode to hide all the creatures inside. Also, we get to learn that Scamander was expelled from Hogwarts for “endangering human life,” even though his teacher – a young Albus Dumbledore – claimed otherwise.

Fantastic Beasts is the first of the three films being written by J.K. Rowling. Deathly Hallows director David Yates is at the helm of this movie, which also stars Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, and Ezra Miller.

The film is set to hit US theaters on November 18.
