Scary Lights Out Trailer Will Make You Afraid of the Dark

Yep, we’re definitely keeping our lights on from now on.

In 2013, director David F. Sandberg released an award-winning short horror film about a woman being tormented by a demonic presence that only appears in the absence of light. Since then, the video had gone viral across social media.

Warner Bros. loved the idea so much that they brought Sandberg over to direct a full length movie version of the clip from a screenplay by Eric A. Heisserer (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Final Destination 5). And now, the first trailer for this film has finally surfaced online.

Lights Out follows the story of a young boy named Martin and his older sister Rebecca. After they keep seeing a woman lurking in the shadows whenever the lights go out, they started an investigation, which led to a mysterious event from their mother’s past that feeds on the fear of those this woman hunts. The more they discover the truth behind this strange phenomenon, the more they realize the danger that they’re in, especially whenever the lights go out.

The movie stars Maria Bello, Teresa Palmer, and Billy Burke, and is being produced by James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring).

Lights Out is slated for release this year on July 22.
