Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have finally dropped the first trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars, the fifth installment in the Underworld film series and sequel to 2012’s Underworld: Awakening.
Kate Beckinsale reprises her role as Selene, with Theo James also returning as David, Selene’s protege and ally. Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance also makes a comeback as the Vampire elder Thomas, who happens to be David’s father.
Newcomers Tobias Menzies and Lara Pulver play the roles of a new fearsome Lycan leader and an ambitious vampire, respectively. The rest of the cast includes James Faulkner, Peter Andersson, Bradley James, Daisy Head, and Clementine Nicholson.
The sequel is directed by Anna Foerster, who previously directed episodes of TV series Criminal Minds and Outlander. She is also known as an outstanding cinematographer in previous blockbusters, such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and White House Down.
Underworld: Blood Wars opens in US theaters on January 6, 2017.
