Watch Tom Cruise Fight Ancient Evil in First ‘The Mummy’ Trailer

Following the release of a teaser trailer a few days ago, the studio has finally unveiled the full action-packed trailer of their present-day reboot of The Mummy starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe.

The film gives a mature take on its plot compared to the 1999 version as Nick Morton (Cruise) and a team of paramilitary archaeologists stumble on a forbidden place in the desert and unwittingly set loose an ancient powerful force on Earth. Morton must then do everything in his power to put the monster back in its tomb to stop it from wreaking havoc.

It’s a breath of fresh air to see them focusing more on the horror element with this remake. Dont get me wrong, I did enjoy the Brendan Fraser-led installments, but they felt more like an action-adventure film rather than a terrifying monster film. This reboot will still have that action and adventure, but with an added sense of fear to fascinate and scare the audience at the same time.

Star Trek Into Darkness writer Alex Kurtzman is at the helm of this horror-action offering from a script penned by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Doctor Strange) and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie.

This soon-to-be blockbuster romp, which is expected to bow down on June 9, 2017, also stars Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, and Courtney B. Vance.
